The Black Thorn are a band of Republic Privateers that were formed under the leadership of the Jedi Exile known as Vagandro Rist and the Kel family siblings Brianna and Antora. Naming their band after the mysterious vessel that had been lost for countless millennia, they set out across the galaxy to unravel the vessel's mystery. Along the way the they would build their numbers from drifters and those who came into ownership of one of the lost medallions of the Black Thorn. However they were not the only ones to seek the missing vessel and would find themselves facing The Black Prince and Darth Sidre on two different sides. After a fourteen long months of searching and fighting, the privateers travelled beyond the rim to the very asteroid on which the vessel had been named where they faced dangers and darkness which bound them together.
Book 2 : The Lords of Alderaan
Having survived their ordeal beyond the rim, the crew found themselves without purpose. Reluctant to watch the crew which had grown so close disband and go their separate ways, Brianna sought out a new purpose. On Alderaan the Black Thorn Privateers came to the aide of a minor house known as House Trell and embark on a long campaign to return them to their rightful home that had so recently been stolen from them by their rival House Vosk. Over the months they endured hardships in combat and committed genuine acts of daring and heroism that would culminate in a final conflict where they stood besieged in Trellia Palace with the remaining Trell siblings and their armed forces against the forces of House Vosk. There they faced unforeseen dangers and betrayal as Fulvia Trell would come to stab Arlan Vela of the Black Thorn in the back after knighting him in a twisted betrayal which culminated in fratricide.
Book 3 : The Dark Ones
Having survived the war of Houses Trell and Vosk, but at great personal cost, the crew continued to strive to survive and keep flying. Having secured work on Ord Mantel, the crew landed on the planet with medical supplies to aide in an outbreak on one of the more volcanic islands. There the crew would come across the first of seven dark entities, each possessing a mortal host that would lead them to face their innermost darkness as they strived to end the entities nefarious plans.
Book 4 : The Senator & The Mandaghouls
Almost two years after they had first formed, The Black Thorn would find themselves brought before Senator Coresh and threatened with the abolishment of their letter of marque. Following some skilful negotiations on behalf of their Captain, the crew would come to find themselves working under the very watchful eye of the republic. Travelling to Taris and across the galaxy, the crew would find themselves in a mystery once more as they attempted to locate artefacts for the senator. At the same time the Black Thorn would find themselves caught up with a second challenge as their long term adversary Fulvia Trell would emerge at the head of a fleet of MandaGhouls on course to the Hapes Cluster and billions of innocent victims. Having agreed to meet Fulvia Trell the crew would be faced with her demand, to bring the legendary vessel known as the Black Thorn to the Hapes Cluster to cure the MandaGhouls leaving the crew caught between three impossible tasks, to stop Fulvia Trell and the Mandaghouls, to find the Black Thorn and to find the artefacts for Senator Coresh.
Having made deal with their former adversary Gara the Black Prince for an exchange of information which would save the Black Prince's life, the crew learnt how to contact Vagandro and the legendary vessel at the Stone Table on Voss. Before they could actually contact the vessel, the crew found themselves framed for the murder of Senator Coresh on her home world when they attempted to deliver an artefact to her. The crew managed to escape the planet before the local authorities were able to arrest them and then fled to Voss where they faced the very real prospect of becoming Republic Outlaws. With the Mandaghoul threat to the Hapes Cluster, the crew had no option but to strive forward as criminals to save innocent lives.
The Black Thorn fleet entered the Hapes Cluster ahead of the legendary vessel and soon found themselves caught admist a great space battle between the space navy protecting the Hapes Cluster and the Mandaghoul fleet. As a result of the pitched battle the crew's vessels were damaged and forced to be abandoned, but not before the crew were saved from certain death by the legendary Black Thorn vessel which then began it's mission of mercy after teleporting the entire crew down to the planet below. The crew then took the fight to both the flagship of Fulvia Trell and The Black Thorn vessel where both teams would come face to face with Fulvia Trell, one being an uncontrolled Gen'dai droid in disguise and one being non-other than one of their own having undergone plastic surgery.
Book 5 : The Secret of the Veritas Lucis
After destroying both the Mandaghoul fleet and the Black Thorn vessel, the crew found themselves on the run from the Republic, wanted for the very crimes they had tried to prevent. On Nar Shaddaa they were ambushed by a highly coordinated strike force of Bounty Hunters. Most of the Thorns were captured and taken to a top secret prisoner facility known as the Durasteel colony on a hidden moon. Without any due process or legal recourse, they were held in brutal conditions for the better part of a week before managing to kick off a prison riot and breaking free.
Now the crew have been approached by an SIS agent with an interesting offer -- work for them uncovering the corrupted elements inside of the Republic and the SIS would help them clear their names and prove their innocence. With little viable alternatives before them, the crew have accepted...
